Maria Scala
Tax Manager
As a Manager in the firm’s Business Tax practice, Maria Scala connects with her financial services clients, which range in scope from management companies and family partnerships to hedge funds and fund of funds, to help them with their varied partnership and corporate tax needs. By delivering relevant insights to her clients on state and local tax matters, tax estimates, and the foreign filing requirements that may impact them, she provides them with the information they need to better help them with their tax planning initiatives.
Maria enjoys taking part in the firm’s Business Tax training program as a dynamic instructor who educates all new hire and intern classes on the basics of 1065 taxation methods. Acting as coach to staff level and senior accountants, she assists with the development of professionals across her practice area. Additionally, she takes an active role in the area of recruitment by interviewing both accountants new to the profession and those who come with experience to ensure the firm is bringing in the best and brightest talent.
In her free time, Maria volunteers with the ASPCA, the Lupus Foundation of America, and Greater Good Charities.
Maria obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (with a concentration in Accounting and a minor in Business Law) from Fordham University’s prestigious Gabelli School of Business.
She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New Jersey.
